AKKO – OLD QUEEN
I created an exhibition that is a journey of documentation of openings and closures.
The beginning of each painting was a quick tour in the alleys of the Old City.
Spontaneous, hasty assemblies of windows and doors and gates and bars.
Walking fast on narrow streets when the eye still does not see everything.
And at the end – a mixture of materials:
A colorful mixture which softens and blurs sharp lines
Emphasizing soft nuances and shadows.
I have painted the city not quite as it is.
I gave her joy and laughter,
I cleaned her out of dirt and people
And I dressed her in royal dress.
And yet, in my eyes, she remained as she had been on other days
Strong, defiant and heavily planted into the sea.
All paintings are the same size
80 by 80 centimeters. Mixed technique on plywood.
